Carolina springtime is one of our very favorite times: As the temperature rises and flowers begin to bloom, everything comes back to life after the cold of winter and all we find ourselves wanting to do is enjoy the warm weather. Whether you want to take a week off and hit the coast or just take a day trip to the mountains, there these are the towns to visit in the Carolinas in the springtime, each with their own little unique slice of the south that offer a perfect embrace of the season.
Skip Charleston this spring and explore the second oldest town in South Carolina. Beaufort is a special type of Carolina springtime; one that’s rich in history, culture, and activities for all ages. Downtown Beaufort, the ultimate small coastal town, is nestled beside the beach. As you stroll down the historic streets, you can see all of the elegant Civil War-era homes and buildings. Beaufort offers plenty of activities including, shopping, site seeing tours, fishing, horse back riding, and plenty of beach access.
Asheville is the ultimate eclectic town to explore this spring. Downtown Asheville has plenty of places to eat and drink, including some of the signature breweries in the area. Walk along the streets and listen to street performers all while surrounded by mountains. For shopping take a short drive down the hill to the Asheville mall or to Biltmore park. Asheville has plenty of activities for families or couples including, the Biltmore House, Grove Park Inn, and hiking trails for days in the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Greenville has all the shopping, bars, and restaurants you could ever want. Stroll down downtown Greenville and take in all the sights and cute shops. There’s even a river right by downtown with a walking bridge. Greenville also has plenty of shopping and eateries outside of the downtown area that you can explore on foot this season.
Wrightsville Beach, NC
Enjoy Carolina springtime with a perfect day at the beach, before the true heat of the summer sets in. Wrightsville Beach is the ideal vacation spot for anyone in the Carolinas. Relax on the beach or try something more adventurous like any of the exciting watersports available. Scenic harbor cruises can take you through the Intracoastal Waterway for a fun and unique tour. Aside from water activities this quaint town also has plenty of shopping and nightlife. What are you waiting for? Come and enjoy a beer by the water, tour the historic district, or dance the night away in Wrightsville Beach.
Out of all of the towns to visit in the Carolinas, if any outdoor activities are on your bucket list, then Brevard might be the perfect place this springtime. Just 27 miles from Asheville you can go from the high paced city life to quiet nature filled in a short amount of time. Brevard is located right in the middle of the DuPont State Forest filled with tons of outdoor adventures to be had. Take the plunge at Sliding Rock, soak up the stunning waterfalls, or take a stroll on one of the many hiking trails.
