Providence Plastic Surgery: A Talented Surgeon and a “Real Plastic Wife”

Providence Plastic Surgery

At Providence Plastic Surgery, Heather Gear is the marketing creative director and CFO, but in her day-to-day life, she does so much more than that. Gear often works from home to be with her young children, but no two days are the same. With her help, Providence Plastic Surgery is able to host weekly Pop-Up events in coordination with  other businesses, and sometimes in private homes. They host monthly events in the  office, and a major open-house once or twice a year. All events are centered around education and demonstration, while promoting Providence Plastic Surgery’s values of natural results, realistic expectations, and holistic approach. In between her major responsibilities, Gear answers calls, posts to the company’s social media accounts, and remains passionate about helping others.

“I love the challenge of making things easier for people to understand. Skin, laser and cosmetic surgery is not one size fits all and can be confusing at times.”

“I love the challenge of making things easier for people to understand. Skin, laser and cosmetic surgery is not one size fits all and can be confusing at times.”

As the wife of a plastic surgeon, Gear is often asked if she has undergone surgery herself, the simple answer is not yet because she has been raising small children for the past 8 years. However she prefers to take advantage of non-invasive treatments, and might explore surgical options a few years down the road. When Gear married her husband sixteen years ago, he was a plastic surgery resident, and she told him if he opened a private practice she would not work for him.

“I ate those words 7 years ago! I’ve had a lot of roles through the years but my favorite has been to be wife and mother.”

Gear says the best part about working alongside her husband is how well they know each other in multiple environments, and between home, the kids, and the office,  they can hold several conversations at once. Some important values that the Gears  implement in their family life cross over into the business as well. In the Gear household, their three kids are taught to be self-sufficient, and everyone (including the toddler) pulls their weight in chores and responsibilities. It’s the same way at Providence Plastic Surgery – Gear and her husband tend not to hover over their staff, and intentionally hire professional, mature experts who don’t need to be micromanaged.

“The business is a big family, and everyone takes turns doing the dishes and taking out the trash just like a normal family!”

The Gears prioritize their clients’ comfort. The variety of people that walks through the door spans all generations, ethnic groups and ages, and everyone is treated as  equally unique and beautiful. The office boasts a chic and conversational interior design, with a fresh mixture of textures, colors, vibrant art, comfortable seating, and gorgeous wallpaper. It is an eclectic mix that feels fun and artistic, not stuffy, overly neutral or bland. The skin center retail area was built to wow people and show them that PPS is serious about curating products and brands they know and trust will work.

Gear recently gave up her personal brand, which boasted more than 15,000 followers, and has published an article about “matching your real life to your social media life,” by staying true to yourself while maintaining the physical appearance you desire.
