Whitley Hamlin of The Queen City Style here. I’m a working stylist and personal shopper to the smart, hard-working, and well-mannered, and wanted to share some of my favorite summer styles with you.
If there is one thing we all know about summer in the QC, it’s that it is hot. Included below are a few of my top picks for five of this season’s chicest trends.  Use the links below to keep cool while you beat our fab city’s summer heat!

Shades of Yellow
This might be my favorite of the season.  This anything-but-average hue is bold, bright and promises to turn heads in whatever shade you choose.
  • Carmen Marche Ruffled Silk-Moire Bustier Top and Cropped Slim Leg Pants. Wear this to your next pool party or wedding and get ready to wow).
  • Oscar de la Renta Impatiens Flower Drop Earrings. This lightweight statement-making earring has been ALL the rage for spring and will continue into the Summer months and into eternity.  If making a statement is your mantra, this an accessory you will pass on to your inheritors.
  • I love this easy to wear tie-belt cotton crepe skirt by Loup.  Pair it with anything for everything all summer long.
  • This featherweight Italian cashmere sweater from J. Crew is one I recommend to all of my working professional clients for their casual days in the office.  Throw a blazer over it for a more polished look or pair it with jeans and stilettos for a laid-back, sexy vibe.  Either way, it works with everything.
Flashdance Shoulder
While I expect this trend to be more of just that, the off-the-shoulder nod to Jennifer Beals might just be the most fun trend of all this season.  It is so perfect and hot to wear in the warm summer sun.
  • Self-Portrait Asymmetrical Ruffle Top and Dress … Because everything’s more fun with a ruffle!
  • Pair this crisp white asymmetrical ruffle top by Clu with everything to up the interest of your classic style.
  • Take the one shoulder ruffle trend to the pool or beach with this flattering one piece swim suit by Lisa Marie Fernandez.
  • If ruffles are just a hint too cute for you, try Petersyn’s Hadley one-shoulder top with straight lines.
This muted hue always reminds me of Crocodile Dundee or Banana Republic during its earliest years.  Potentially considered bland, khaki deserves way more credit than this.  You can wear it with anything, and really it transcends time.
  • This garment dyed utility dress by J.Crew is perfect for days at the ball field, summer BBQs, and every other casual thing you attend while still looking cute.
  • Red Valentino takes the classic trench to classic cute by adding a ruffle detail to the shoulder of this darling coat.
  • This ruffle-shouldered jumpsuit by Ganni makes me want to be very young again and move back to the city and buy fresh flowers and produce at the Union Square Farmer’s Market every weekend.
  • Who wouldn’t want to have this ruffle skirt with tulle underlay at the ready in their wardrobe for their next special occasion?  J.Crew, once again, for the win!
Seaside Stripes
  • Pair this slubby silk skirt by Whit with platform wedges, and you are instantly teenage and care free again! Top it off with your favorite King of Pops, and you’ve got it made in the shade!
  • Wear this Stripe Tayna Taylor cut out dress or Tiered Striped Cotton dress by Caroline Constas to your next pool party or Caribbean getaway.
  • Seaside stripes deserve a ride on your best friend’s fancy boyfriend’s yacht with this elegant Johanna Ortiz Tiered Ruffled Skirt
  • This Missoni Mare V-Neck Halter One Piece Swimsuit with plunging neckline paired with oversized sunnies, a wide brim hat and patio cocktail screams Slim Aarons approved poolside glamour.
White Shirt Dress
Perhaps the least exciting of all of 2017’s summer fashion trends, the White Shirt Dress just might be the smartest.  Wear it to the office, to church for your Sunday’s Best, to an outdoor dinner party or of course to any of the upcoming golf tournaments all summer long.
  • Miguelina Long Shirt Dress
  • Add a little color with Cynthia Rowley’s polished cotton embroidered version.
  • Zimmerman’s cotton lace number is a lovely dressier option.
  • Veronica Beard’s shirred shirt dress means business!  I would love to put one of my female attorney client’s in this one!
  • Chloe’s Light Cotton Voile Button Detail Shirt Dress is anything BUT your boyfriend’s white button down!
