Step back in time for an unforgettable day of laughter, learning, and connection at Historic Rosedale’s Family Fun Day on September 27, 2025. This event offers a unique chance for all generations to create lasting memories together on the beautiful grounds of one of Charlotte’s most significant historical sites.
A Glimpse into Charlotte’s Past
Before you join the fun, it’s worth knowing the rich history of where you’ll be spending the day. Historic Rosedale is not just any old house; it’s a window into the Queen City’s past. Built in 1815, the stunning Federal-style home is the oldest Federal-frame house still standing in Charlotte. Originally known as “Frew’s Folly,” this home has witnessed over 200 years of history unfold.
The nine-acre property tells the stories of the diverse people who lived and worked here. You can explore the history of the Frew, Caldwell, and Davidson families who owned the plantation. Just as importantly, you can learn about the lives and contributions of the enslaved individuals whose labor was fundamental to the site’s operation. A visit to Rosedale is a powerful reminder of the complex and interwoven histories that have shaped our community.
What to Expect at Family Fun Day
On Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the grounds of Historic Rosedale will transform into a lively hub of activity for all ages. The event is designed to get families exploring, creating, and playing together across the expansive property.
