The Park’s have more than enough talent for one family. Trip Park is a graphic designer, an illustrator, and a painter. Laura does interior design and paints colorful abstracts. The Queen City power couple took time out of their busy lives to answer a few questions for us, from where they eat out in Charlotte to how art plays a role in their own home.
You are both artists – what does the art in your own home look like?
Trip: If I acted like I have a say about what is in my home, I’d be lying.
My studio, however, has some fun original art and illustration from some of my favorite artists that have ever touched a pen or brush to a canvas and/or paper; Quentin Blake, Ralph Steadman, Eric Carle, Jeff MacNelly & Charles Addams. Sometimes I just stop and stare at their work and hope some of that talent floats off in my direction.
Laura: I have enjoyed getting to know the works of different artists through the galleries I am in. Two of my favorite recent purchases are paintings from Shain Gallery by Lynn Johnson and Andy Braitman.
Favorite creative hobby that you do together other than art?
Trip: I would have an answer if we ever stopped enough painting long enough to put some thought into that!
Laura: With four children and three dogs we have no time do anything else!
If you two could pick any travel destination in the world, where would you go?
Trip: I just love to go to London. The Tate and the Saatchi Galleries are awesome.
Laura: Paris!
Where in the QC do you two love to go out to eat?
Trip: We currently love both Stagioni and Aix en Provence.
Laura: If it’s a movie night, Upstream!
