From culinary consultant and restaurateur David Burke comes a new take on modern American cuisine, Red Salt. The dinner-only restaurant opened early August inside of Le Meridien Charlotte, available to both hotel guests and visitors. It is open Mon-Thurs from 5-9 pm, and Fri-Sat from 5-10 pm.
New Jersey native David Burke, labeled “the culinary prankster,” owns 19 other restaurants across five different states. His list of restaurants includes Cloud Bar by David Burke, which is located on the rooftop of Le Meridien. Burke is the author of two cookbooks and has appeared on Top Chef Masters and Every Day with Rachel Ray.
The restaurant decor reflects the energy inside. It infuses red seating and dim lighting for a modern chic interior. Each black tabletop is adorned with a salt candle. To compliment the cheerful atmosphere, the restaurant features unique artwork, curated by Chef Burke, and a large salt wall.
Cocktails, Dessert, and Everything in Between
Red Salt offers a seasonal menu which features cuts of steak using Burke’s patented Himalayan sea-salt dry-aging technique. Homemade bread and an award-winning pastry program are fan favorites. On the menu is an array of Burke’s signature dishes with the “unique southern flair” of executive chef Jeffrey Russell. Start off with a mouth-watering appetizer such as the lobster dumplings, black pepper maple glazed bacon, or salt brick seared wagyu beef. For your entree, choose the savory salt-aged beef. Or opt for a seafood dish like the lobster cioppino or ginger salmon. Goers can pair their meal with a variety of side dishes including truffle parmesan fries, bloody mary onion rings, or crispy brussel sprouts.
You’ll definitely want to leave room for dessert. Caramelized apple tarts, butterscotch and banana pudding, and chocolate cheesecake lollipops are just a few of the delicious options. The menu provides desserts for two or more, but you may want to keep it all for yourself. The bar is a haven for wine-lovers, offering a selection of whites and reds by the glass. Don’t worry, there’s also options for the beer-drinkers as well. You may raise an eyebrow at the signature cocktails, which don distinctive names such as the Kindred Spirit, Flaming Figure, or Hi Tai.
Whether you’re looking for a date-night option or want to knock a new restaurant off your bucket list, make a reservation at the restaurant today to experience Chef Burke’s creation for yourself
