Once the cool weather rolls in and people begin to look skyward for that ever desired first flake of snow, the citizens of Charlotte look forward to a special event called Holiday on Ice. Holiday on Ice in Charlotte is Uptown’s outdoor ice rink that only opens during those cold winter months and is held at NASCAR Hall of Fame Plaza.
This is a place where skaters and non-skaters will have the time of their lives and have an opportunity to get their pictures taken with a giant polar bear under the tree or in the Ceremonial Garden that’s decorated with thousands of glimmering lights. Plus, there’s a concession stand where everyone can enjoy snacks or delicious hot cocoa. General admission is $12 for those that bring their own skates or $16 with a skate rental. You can leave and come back since your ticket is good all day.
Tree Lighting
NASCAR Hall of Fame’s Holiday on Ice is host to many events you and your family won’t want to miss. You can also experience the 6th Annual Tree Lighting. Attending the tree lighting is free while you skate around the ice rink.
Magical Morning
Or your family can attend Magical Morning: A Sensory-Friendly Santa Experience for families living for autism or special needs. The elves have worked hard to create an environment where kids can be themselves. Each child will have the opportunity to meet Santa in an atmosphere that is calming and quiet with no loud music or flashing lights that some might find upsetting. Plus with pre-scheduled times, there is little to no wait. Admission is $15 per family.
Breakfast with Santa
Alternatively, there’s also the Breakfast with Santa event. This all-inclusive experience features a delectable breakfast, a visit and picture with Santa, crafts and reindeer games, and much more. As an added bonus, each child ticket to Breakfast with Santa includes same-day complimentary admission to the ice rink. Admission is $25 per adult, $22 for kids 3-12, or free for those 2 and under.
