When Charlotte entrepreneur Justin Nevill launched JUMP Transit, he wasn’t simply creating another rideshare option. He was building a community-focused transportation service that makes it easier and more affordable to explore some of the city’s most traveled neighborhoods.
Operating throughout NoDa, Plaza Midwood, Belmont, Villa Heights, Optimist Park and surrounding areas, JUMP offers all-electric, on-demand rides for just $3 one way or $7 for an unlimited day pass. The goal is simple: provide an accessible alternative to driving while encouraging residents and visitors to spend more time supporting local businesses.
Unlike traditional rideshare services, JUMP keeps pricing predictable, making it easy to hop between dinner, shopping, breweries and entertainment without worrying about parking or surge pricing.

How it Works
Keeping fares this affordable, however, takes a community effort.
JUMP’s business model relies on partnerships with local companies that advertise on its fleet of electric vehicles. Those sponsorships help offset operating costs, allowing the company to maintain low fares while giving neighborhood businesses a highly visible way to reach thousands of potential customers. It’s a model that creates value on both sides: riders gain an inexpensive transportation option, while businesses increase their visibility in the very communities they serve.
The startup has gained momentum since launching in 2024. What began as a neighborhood shuttle has evolved into a true microtransit service, allowing riders to request on-demand trips through the JUMP app. As demand has grown, so has the fleet, with expansion plans already underway to serve additional Charlotte neighborhoods.
Sustainability on Wheels
Beyond convenience, JUMP is also part of a broader movement toward more sustainable urban transportation. By replacing short car trips with shared electric rides, the service helps reduce emissions while making it easier for people to experience Charlotte’s local restaurants, retailers and gathering places without relying on a personal vehicle.
As Charlotte continues to grow, JUMP is proving that getting around the city doesn’t have to come at the expense of affordability or community. Sometimes, the shortest ride can have the biggest local impact.
