At MetroGreenscape, crafting exquisite outdoor spaces is more than just a job—it’s a passion shared by every member of the team. In Charlotte, NC, they have established themsevles as leaders in landscaping and outdoor living solutions. MetroGreenscape has comprehensive offerings ranging from intricate hardscaping to meticulous lawn care, all designed to transform your backyard into a personal paradise.
We had the chance to go behind the scenes and meet two talented designers of the Metro team, landscape designer Myles Ware and construction designer John Pacek III who work hand in hand to create amazing final products. With their unique blend of creativity, experience, and dedication to the client vision, they have embodied the spirit of MetroGreenscape for the last 2.5 years.
What does an initial meeting with a client look like for you at MetroGreenscape?
It starts with a job site visit with the sales lead and client. We go over what it is specifically that is wanted by the client and then take it back and put it on the drawing board and design software.
What are some of the key considerations when choosing plants and materials for a sustainable and eco-friendly landscape?
When creating a design, I prioritize the client’s vision, including their preferences for colors, styles, and plants. I ensure the design aligns with their desires while also considering the climate of their location and the local environment. I select plants that not only enhance the aesthetic but are also well-suited to the specific soil conditions, such as the type of clay or mud found around the home.
What trends are you currently seeing in landscape design, and how do you stay updated on new techniques and styles?
Post-COVID, we’re seeing a blend of modern and traditional outdoor design trends. Many people are drawn to Mediterranean styles but also want to incorporate gardening into their spaces. The demand for low-maintenance designs has surged—everyone wants beauty without the hassle. We’re also seeing a rise in features like pickleball courts as people look for fun, practical additions to their outdoor areas. Staying in touch with these trends is key, and I follow a lot of social media accounts to stay inspired by what’s popular and functional.
How do you handle challenges like working with small or oddly shaped spaces, or dealing with specific climate conditions?
Ultimately you want to give clients what they want, so we find a way to satisfy all of their needs and wants to make their vision into reality within reason.
What’s your favorite aspect of your work?
We love the drawing and 3D process. Seeing everything come into fruition is truly the best part of the job.
