SOCO Gallery Opens Brad Thomas and Anne Lemanski

SOCO Gallery

SOCO Gallery will present their upcoming dual exhibition on Wednesday, January 24. The artists, Brad Thomas and Anne Lemanski, will also join the gallery for a joint opening reception. The reception is from  6 – 8pm.

In his upcoming exhibition, hold these truths, Minnesota-based artist Brad Thomas will present a selection of his artist books alongside a new body of mixed media work. Thomas’ artist books, which have been described as “tapestries of the subconscious”, are a defining part of his practice and include over 7,300 entries.

McColl Center alumna Anne Lemanski will present a new series of large format prints and sculptures.

Anne Lemanski is a multidisciplinary artist currently focusing on the complex, symbiotic relationship between humans and animals, and the exploitation of the natural world to suit our needs. She incorporates two-dimensional collage with three-dimensional sculptures.

Her work is in many private collections, and the permanent collections of the Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC; North Carolina Museum of Art; Asheville Art Museum in Asheville, NC; and the U.S. Department of State Art in Embassies collection, Karachi, Pakistan.

Brad Thomas’ mixed-media artist’s books, paintings, and installations may be viewed as “patchwork quilts of the subconscious.” Sourcing the historic spectrum of high and low culture, Thomas has developed a signature style that charts a vibrant, personal cartography defined by chance, intuition, curiosity, and osmosis.

Thomas’ commissioned works have been featured at the North Carolina Museum of Art, The Halsey Institute for Contemporary Art, and The Craft Museum of Finland. His works are held in numerous private and public collections including the Mint Museum, the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, the Weatherspoon Art Museum, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
