Sustain Charlotte launches initiative to transform the way Charlotteans move around

The Light Rail - Sustain Charlotte launches Way2Go CLT

Sustain Charlotte, a nonprofit dedicated to solving Charlotte’s sustainability challenges, today announced an eight-month initiative to increase responsible mobility in the Queen City. In partnership with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), Kimley-Horn, Integra Architecture, and the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS), the nonprofit is launching Way2Go CLT, a region-wide challenge to drive one million fewer miles in single occupancy vehicles.

Striving to make sustainable transportation simple, the initiative includes a user-friendly website and app, available through Participants can log their commute miles, whether traveled by foot, bike, transit, or carpool. The app will even be capable of automatically detecting commutes, based on the user’s home and work addresses.

Friends, families, and businesses can participate in a little friendly competition while improving their daily commutes by using their logged miles to earn monthly prizes. These incentives will be chosen specifically to boost the local economy by featuring local businesses.

Way2Go CLT is offering Charlotteans a chance to come together to improve daily commuting experiences, all the while lessening emissions, clogged roads, and vehicle costs.
