As a member, you have access to tons of classes at no additional charge: Their fitness program includes Crossfit, yoga, HIIT workouts, group exercise, and more. The YMCA is a way to both support the community and to either start your fitness journey or simply continue it.
Hike the trails at Freedom Park
Freedom Park is one of Charlotte’s many: Just three miles from Uptown, the park covers 98 acres, with more than enough space for you to enjoy all the park has to offer. In the winter months, bundle up and hit the hiking trails, batting cages, or enjoy a chilly picnic by the seven acre lake. If you like being outdoors this will assuredly be one of your favorite healthy activities in Charlotte.
Walk your dog or let them roam free at the McAlpine Creek Park
McAlpine Creek Park, located on Monroe Rd., has a little bit of everything for everyone. Covering 114 acres, the park has an off-leash dog park, a cross country course, a 1.5 mile nature trail, a two mile bike trail, and an outdoor fitness center. Bring the whole family (furry ones, too).mecknc.gov
Bring some friends to skateboard at the Soul Ride Skatepark
If you want to test your skills, try picking up a new hobby this winter. Located in Concord, Soul Ride Skatepark offers private lessons and a freestyle skate park. They allow scooters, skateboards, rollerblades, and bikes. Admission is $7 per hour or $12 per day.
Take a trip to the Big Air Trampoline Park on Sardis Rd
Skip the gym and head down to Big Air. The indoor amusement park offers trampolines on all surfaces, a freestyle course, foam pits, and a ninja warrior course! No matter if it is rain or shine, you can always count on Big Air to give you an intense workout while having fun with your whole family.
Head on down to Inner Peaks in South End or Matthews
This indoor rock climbing facility allows you to get a sweat on without having to brave the cold weather. Inner Peaks caters to people of all skill levels and ages. Get a little extra bang for your buck with a gym that offers personal training, nutrition services and group fitness classes. Jamie Scott Fitness offers over 60 classes per week from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m, and first-time members rates.
