Historic Brattonsville
Living History Saturdays: “Our Favorite Cookbooks”
WHEN: Nov. 2, 9, 16, & 30 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
GENERAL ADMISSION: Adults $8; Seniors $7; Youth $5; Free for CHM Members & under 3.
Period dressed interpreters at Brattonsville serve up a series of special Living History Saturdays that focus on cookbooks from the 18th and 19th centuries. “Our Favorite Cookbooks” feature open-hearth cooking using recipes, or ‘receipts’, highlighting dishes from prominent cookbooks along with activities that reflect the era of publication.

Christmas Candlelight Tours
WHEN: Dec. 14 & 15 from 3 – 9 p.m. with timed-tours reserved in advance. [CHM Members Exclusive Event on Dec. 13] Special Event Admission: Tickets are limited; must be reserved in advance.
This year’s annual Christmas Candlelight Tours at Historic Brattonsville portray how the people of the Carolina Piedmont celebrated the holiday season during the days of the American Revolution.
Historically dressed interpreters guide guests on sitewide tours for a glimpse into the Christmas of 1780. In addition to the tours’ scripted scenarios, the holiday event is enriched with a brass band and fiddle music, fun make-and-take activities, and unique gift shopping opportunities featuring traditional glass-blown goods, pottery, and sweetgrass baskets. Concessions will be available.

Festivus: Seinfeld and the Natural World
WHEN: Dec. 7 from 6 – 8 p.m.
SPECIAL EVENT: Adults 21+ Only. $10 for CHM Members and $20 for Non-members. Pre-registration Required. Admission covers two drinks (wine and beer) and Seinfeld themed snack!
Museum of York County invites all Seinfeld fans for an Adults-Only Holiday Event. Come air your grievances and enjoy a fun night at the museum where you’ll make connections between the television sit-com show and the natural world. Wear your puffy shirt or dress as your favorite Seinfeld character and hit the selfie station.
Play Blow-hole Putt-Putt, test your canine knowledge in the Dingo Ate Your Baby game, learn about great builders in the animal kingdom with Art Vandelay Animal Architects, and go fishing for Marble Rye. Play Frogger, perform feats of strength at the Festivus pole, experience a Seinfeld themed planetarium show, and yada, yada, yada!
Main Street Children’s Museum
Gnome for the Holidays
WHEN: December 7 & 8 from 1 – 4:30 p.m.
ADMISSION: This is a free event. No pre-registration required.
Serving young children up to age six, Main Street Children’s Museum is a storybook-come-to-life playscape. Gone for the Holidays is one of our most anticipated holiday happenings at Culture & Heritage Museums. The little ones will have a chance to decorate the Christmas tree, play with candy canes, and of course write a letter to Santa.
