This stylish living room, completed in Cornelius in the fall of 2019, is from the talented design team at Kelly Cruz Interiors. Kelly, after meeting with the clients, realized the goal was a cleaner, more modern aesthetic.
Kelly Cruz Interiors is a full service interior design firm based in Davidson, NC. She and her team focus on the luxury market of Charlotte, Lake Norman, and Atlanta.
“Their request was that we take the home and the furnishings as modern as possible. But do that without losing a nod to the architectural style,” she explains.
“They also owned some art pieces that the key rooms were designed around. Because this home will not be used as their primary home, casual entertaining was major. Also, providing hospitality to their frequent guests was the primary use of this home and had to be top priority.”
The sectional was custom designed by Kelly Cruz Interiors and made by a local NC manufacturer. All of the lighting throughout the home was changed which, combined with the change of wall paint, made the most impact in changing the personality of the home. The Corbett chandelier in the living room was the perfect companion to the client’s artwork.
In the end, Kelly achieved a living space that is less formal, more approachable, and fun: The new design was a breath of fresh air that reflects casual lakeside living.
