Born in Nashville, TN, Skin Pharm is a stylish, modern beauty brand that nurse practitioner Maegan Griffin founded back in 2017. Quickly, her NPs and PAs’ expert one-on-one care in office and the at-home skin care line Skin Pharm offers led to a burgeoning business with a local celebrity following.
From there, opening new clinics outside of Tennessee was a no-brainer. In mid-2022, Skin Pharm opened on Park Road in the mid-century modern Foundry building,
Prior to starting Skin Pharm, Maegan worked in plastic surgery leading the practice’s injectables clinic. The experience exposed her to both reconstructive surgery and medical dermatology; together, she gained a unique lens into two popular industries. During the same timespan, Maegan frequently traveled to train other medical practices on the use of noninvasive skin rejuvenation devices.
“It was during this time,” she shares, “that I noticed no one was doing it the way I felt — and the way my clients felt — it should be done. [There was] a general lack of specialization in a field that requires meticulous skill, lots of practice and genuine passion. I became determined to offer clients a better experience and started Skin Pharm shortly after.”
At Skin Pharm in Charlotte, you’ll find an upscale, welcoming space with custom woodwork, custom artwork, and a curated playlist. Ultimately, it’s Maegan’s aim to offer a meaningful space that can go beyond just your skin health needs. Here, she tells us more about the Charlotte clinic and what first-time visitors should know.
Maegan, what made you decide to bring Skin Pharm to Charlotte, and how did you select the location?
We love Charlotte! There’s something so special about this city—from the day we announced our opening, we’ve felt warmly welcomed and supported by the community. With Charlotte, we saw a high volume of product orders, which told us this city was identifying with Skin Pharm. This gave us the confidence (and lots of excitement!) to open here. Park Road has proven to be a convenient location, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the space we’ve created and the team we’ve built to treat this community.
Who worked on the buildout and design? How would you describe the style of the space?
The design of our clinics has always been a priority of mine. I believe our surroundings have a huge impact on how we feel, with the right ones having the ability to improve both our clients’ experience and our team’s well-being. For our flagship clinic in Nashville, I chose finishes, furnishings and decor myself… Once we grew outside of the Nashville market, I was unable to manage this by myself. We brought on Lori Paranjape and her team to help with our Atlanta, Dallas and Charlotte clinics.
What should a first-time client know?
We care deeply about our clients’ skin health and how it impacts their total health. And the benefits of taking care of your skin go beyond positively impacting your skin health. It has the power to boost your mood, confidence, and overall life, too. There’s a strong connection between skin health and mental health, and we’re here to make this a positive connection—one that offers a feeling of being secure and happy in your skin.
Describe your typical clientele.
I started Skin Pharm for the customer like myself; for the customer who wasn’t being served by the existing beauty market and who found that companies weren’t satisfying their needs. Our customers are really the women and men of today—those who need to have ease in their skin health routine and don’t have time to second-guess if they’re investing in the right products and practitioner. There’s an expectation that companies offer a good product and experience and don’t disappoint, and we’re committed to this.
