Local Women in Wine The Price is Right! Seminar | Saturday, April 30
Great gifts come in many sizes. Similarly, great wines come at an array of price points. Charlotte Wine + Food Week has put together an interactive blind tasting seminar where your palette will be the judge to determine if the price is right. Attendees will taste through 4 sets of wines from white to red, from $10 to $100 price points, and be challenged to guess the varietals, the region, and the price. They will collect score sheets and small prizes will be awarded to those with the best scores. They’ve assembled two of Charlotte’s most certified female wine educators including: Sara Guterbock, Japanese Beverage Educator & Key Account Manager at New York Mutual Trading, Inc., and Sarah Malik, Wine & Spirit Educator at Johnson & Wales University as your wine game show co-hosts. Designed for all wine lovers, beginner to connoisseurs, come ready to test your knowledge and ask questions to these amazing Women in Wine. Cheese and charcuterie will be provided.
1000-Point Tasting + Winemaker Honoree Dinner ft. Laura Catena of Bodega Catena Zapata PLUS Live Auction | Saturday, April 30
Design with wine connoisseurs and collectors in mind, the 1000-Point Tasting + 2022 Winemaker Honoree Dinner, limited to 80 very lucky guests, starts with a tasting of ten 100-point-rated wines moderated by Managing Director at Bodega Catena Zapata, Laura Catena, and Wine Enthusiast Editor, Lauren Mowery, held at The Innovation Barn, Charlotte’s new incubator for sustainable businesses. The night wraps up with a live auction featuring the best wine and experience lots CW+F Week has to offer.
Everything Coming Up Rosé Brunch presented by Château d’Esclans | Sunday, May 1
Kick back, relax, and rosé! Springtime in the South means it’s time to get outdoors and think pink. Charlotte Wine + Food hosts its second annual Rosé Brunch on the beautiful patio of the historic uptown house now home to Poplar Tapas, Wine & Spirits. Go on a 4-course tasting journey celebrating all things Rosé with one of the most renowned rosé houses in the world – Château d’Esclans. Americans have gone crazy for rosé in the last decade and we are pretty sure after this brunch you’ll agree that rosé is here to stay. Pink attire in all shades is encouraged.
Smoke + Grapes BBQ ft. Jon G’s Barbecue + Andis Wines | Sunday, May 1
Come savor the best of rock-star BBQ newcomer Jon G’s out of Peachland, NC – named best BBQ in the Carolinas by Eater in 2021 (which says a lot because they are makers of mainly Texas-style BBQ!). They have lines at their restaurant every Saturday (the only day they are open) and draw long lines when they bring their food truck into Charlotte from time to time. They’re excited to host this “no waiting in line” seated BBQ event paired with wine (no beer here)! Throughout the evening, you’ll imbibe on stunning wines from Andis created under the direction of famed California winemaking consultant Philippe Melka. Don’t miss this brand new Charlotte Wine + Food Week finale experience that is sure to leave you saying ‘“Yee-haw!!!”
