What sets you apart from other boutique hotels in the area?
The Henderson is Hendersonville’s only downtown accommodation with an Al Fresco dining experience and an award-winning chef. At 104 years old, the Inn is the oldest purpose-built accommodation still in current use in Hendersonville.
What are some of the highlights of The Henderson?
Built circa 1919 in a Classical Revivalist architectural style, you’ll love the vintage design and details at our inn. We are Hendersonville’s only downtown hotel that blends the romance and charm of the past with the comfort and convenience of modern amenities. The lounge and lobby is an ideal place to relax and unwind with other guests over a glass of wine or a cocktail or to enjoy a good book and is complete with a fireplace.
Tell us about your restaurant on-site. Is this open to the public, or only guests?
Harvey’s @ The Henderson is open to the public for dinner Thursday through Saturday evening and for Sunday Brunch. Serving gourmet small-plate meals with fresh ingredients and innovative takes on classic dishes, Harvey’s is one of only 3 restaurants in Henderson County accredited by ASAP (Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project) for the use of local products.
What are some of your go to must sees/do’s in the area you typically tell your guests about?
The Biltmore Estate is a must-see for architectural connoisseurs and history buffs. For our outdoor adventurers Hendersonville is an ideal hub for hiking in Pisgah Forest or Dupont State Park. The Henderson is minutes away from ‘Jump off Rock’ and the surrounding area is known as “Land of Waterfalls” home to more than 250 waterfalls. Some of these have starred in The Hunger Games and The Last of the Mohicans.
What would you say is the perfect weekend in Hendersonville?
Starting the day off with a gourmet cooked to order breakfast from Chef Michael before a hike in the mountains. Relax and unwind in one of our 11 breweries, 7 wineries, 3 hard cideries, 2 spirit distillers and 1 meadery. Enjoy dinner in Harvey’s @ The Henderson or in one of Main Streets 20 restaurants. You can enjoy a show at Flat Rock Playhouse, or take a tour of the Biltmore Estate. A visit into Asheville is a must before returning to The Henderson for a nightcap with one of Jeanne’s craft cocktails.
Is The Henderson family-friendly?
Yes, guests under 12 years of age stay for free with a complimentary rollaway bed in your room. We have an abundance of board games and a free library for children to keep them occupied!
Is there anything else you would like to share?
Michael and Jeanne Gilligan, the Chef and Bartender of the Inn, are also Beekeepers with hives on the roof of The Henderson. There, they cultivate their own honey for use in recipes and cocktails. You can also take the raw honey home!
