One of the greatest luxuries at Wild Dunes is simply the freedom to choose your own pace. Spend the morning on the beach, book a treatment at the Spa at Sweetgrass, tee off on one of the resort’s championship golf courses or explore miles of scenic walking and biking paths before settling in for an afternoon by the pool.
For those seeking a quieter escape, the adults-only pool at Boardwalk Inn is ideal. Tucked away from the livelier family areas, it’s a peaceful retreat where attentive poolside service makes lingering all afternoon feel like part of the itinerary. Order lunch without ever leaving your lounge chair (the turkey club and fries made for perfect summertime lounging fare).
Dining Experiences
During my stay, another of the highlights was the Shuck & Savor Oyster Experience at Oystercatcher, in Sweetgrass. Equal parts tasting and local education, the experience explores the rich history of oysters while guiding guests through four distinct oyster varieties, each shaped by the waters from which they’re harvested. And yes, you’ll learn to shuck your own oyster… and if you’re brave enough, you’ll get to try the one you opened “naked,” fresh from the sea.

Isle of Palms is a cherished destination for good reason, and Wild Dunes Resort is no small part of that equation. With a car, you can easily visit other Charleston beaches and the peninsula itself, but if you decide to simply stay put, the resort has everything you need and more.
