Summerbird in Charlotte NC, one of our favorite local spots for crispy chicken, opened in the heart of South End last August.

We had the opportunity to chat with the Summerbird team to get some more insight on their menu, and why they put so much emphasis on the joys of summer!
Summerbird is fairly new to the Charlotte area. What was the draw to South End?
The lively and vibrant energy in South End reflects the spirit of summer and the values we hold dear. We wanted our guests to feel that same energy when they walked through our doors. At Summerbird, we embrace the time where schedules are loose, outdoor play is celebrated, and the daily grind is lifted in favor of fun.

When you step into Summerbird, we aim to transport you away from the daily hustle and into an everyday escape. Our goal is to create an atmosphere where our guests can unwind and find inspiration in the subtle nods to summertime that spread throughout our restaurant. Among our favorite summertime details are the imaginative To Go shelves crafted from repurposed diving boards, the whimsical swings thoughtfully placed throughout the restaurant, and the “Please Dive In” wall adorned with blue and teal tiles by the drink station, reminiscent of classic pool designs. As you make your way through the order line, you’ll also encounter a charming tile hopscotch, adding a playful touch to your dining experience.
