Emily Watson knows a thing or two about health and fitness. The local powerhouse is a CrossFit certified yoga and mobility expert and the owner of Moga Charlotte. She leads a killer free bootcamp Monday and Wednesdays nights at Stax at 6:30 pm and well over 100 participants show up to see if they can keep up. As one of Charlotte’s best and most well-known trainers, we thought there was no one better to give us a little health and fitness insight.
What is your number one personal favorite exercise move? What’s the one you totally dread? It is a toss up between squat cleans and weighted lunges. Sir Mix-a-Lot is my dude. Like most, we tend to dread our weaknesses and mine is handstand walking! My parents should have kept me in gymnastics when I was younger!
2. What keeps you motivated?
I honestly LOVE working out. It has a therapeutic effect on my disposition. Now that I have a 6 month old baby, I want to continue to be healthy and instill health related values for him.
3. What is the most misunderstood thing about CrossFit?
You don’t have to be FIT to start Crossfit. It is a vehicle for physical fitness and is easily modified for the individual.
4. What’s your favorite place for a healthy meal in Charlotte? My go to places for Llunch: Earls Grocery, Mayobird, Living Kitchen, and Ricos Acai.
5. Absolute favorite thing about your job?
When I wake up in the morning and head off to work, it is not dreadful. I don’t feel like I have a job, I get to experience my clients achievements which is gratifying.
