Looking for a family-friendly outing with a little bite? This summer, the Museum of York County in Rock Hill is inviting visitors to explore the strange (and surprisingly fascinating) world of nature’s most notorious bloodsuckers.
On view through Sept. 6, Attack of the Bloodsuckers! is a hands-on exhibition that takes a closer look at the creatures that rely on blood to survive—from mosquitoes, ticks and leeches to bats and the legendary vampires that have inspired folklore for centuries. Along the way, visitors will discover how these animals find their hosts, why some people seem to attract more bug bites than others and practical ways to stay protected outdoors this summer.
Interactive experiences include live leech feedings, magnification stations that allow guests to examine insects up close, games exploring heat detection and compound eyes, a mosquito-themed challenge and hands-on activities designed for curious kids and adults alike.
Attack of the Bloodsuckers! will remain on display all summer, offering visitors to Museum of York County a chance to uncover the surprising science behind some of nature’s creepiest creatures. Admission is included with museum entry.
