With the primary request of a larger kitchen island and range, Karen Kettler, of Karen Kettler Design, delivered with this client’s Myers Park home, built by Simonini Custom Homes in 2001. Kettler crafted a crisp, modern feel with her use of navy blue and gold joined with matte black finishes: clean lines paired with these contemporary hints create a warmth in the home.
Above all, the clean, new kitchen space, with white countertops, stylish cabinetry and modern, dark accents, is airy and homey. Karen’s touches of light stained wood in the hutch and the barstools work with the white to radiate light and enlarge the space. The hutch, a wooden shelved furniture piece, is an intentional statement in the room. This piece lives alongside other eye-catching elements, such as the mantle hood, which was the client’s initial design muse. The dark flooring and the navy-blue island keep the room grounded. Moreover, they bring balance to the bright, airy elements of the design.
In conclusion, Karen Kettler not only fulfilled the client’s wishes, but also created a stunning example of understanding a space and blending design elements into a functional, cohesive finished product.
