Charlotte got it’s moment on Top Chef this past season, and Friday, March 17, will be your opportunity to embrace it. One of spring’s best events will take place at 5Church. Jamie Lynch, 5Church’s owner and fellow Top Chef Contestant Katsuji Tanabe.
Born and raised in the heart of Mexico, the son of a Japanese father and a Mexican mother, Katsuji Tanabe has worked inside LA’s most acclaimed kitchens. He competed on both Top Chef season 12 in Boston and Top Chef Mexico.
Chef Jamie Lynch moved to Charlotte in 2002 to pursue his dream and open 5Church. He currently serves as the Executive Chef and Partner at 5Church Group, overseeing all three restaurant locations in Charlotte, N.C., Charleston, S.C., and Atlanta, G.A
At the Friday 5Church dinner, guests can choose from 5Church’s regular menu or from a selection of off-menu specials specially curated by the Top Chef duo.
The duo will also team up the next night for a Top Chef Tacopocalypse event at 3:00 p.m.
Jamie Lynch and Katsuji Tanabe will host a taco cook-off, and the guests will have the chance to taste their creations and judge a winner while sipping specialty cocktails. A portion of all the proceeds will go towards Levine Children’s Hospital.
