In 2009, Vicky Little created Dipped Interiors, a style-forward Charlotte boutique and studio that offers interior design, renovation, and new construction services.
She unveiled this particular project at the perfect time for the client. It was ready right before stay-at-home orders were issued in early spring. There could hardly have been a better place to quarantine.
“Our client wanted to build a guest house on his property for a future mother/mother-in-law suite with an attached garage. But there is no need for mama to move in right now. So why not turn the living quarters into a ‘golfers paradise retreat for him and his family and guests to enjoy?” explains Vicky.
The homeowner wanted to continue the Restoration Hardware vibe from his main home into what he now fondly calls his “man cave,” achieved in part through the neutral color palette and simple, clean furniture.
A slightly unconventional design challenge, this space had to house a golf simulator, putting green, and a fitness area. Knowing there was potential to convert this into a guest house in the future, too, Dipped Interiors also had to make sure it housed a kitchen, full bathroom, and lounge area.
The original garage was torn down to build this larger space. The team salvaged the old wood ceiling and incorporated it as the feature wall in the entry.
The rugs are Capel and the bathroom floor and kitchen/bar backsplash is Daltile. Pendants are from Rejuvenation and the shades are A Shade Above. Don Duffy Architecture served as the architect on this project and Salins Group was the contractor.
