This fall, Palmetto Bluff is bringing together the twelth annual Music to Your Mouth on November 15-18.
This go around, Palmetto Bluff has corralled the best and the brightest of the South’s culinarians, a creatively colorful mix of vintners, brewers, distillers and mixologists and an all-star line-up of musicians.
This lowcountry event is a curated series of epicurean events and engaging experiences with celebrated chefs and winemakers. From the Southern speakeasy and a bacon and bourbon cruise to a traditional oyster roast and the “pig event,” this is one of the very best weekends to experience the beauty and relaxed pace of Palmetto Bluff. Five percent of all ticket sales will benefit Second Helpings, a Bluffton charity that collects perishable goods from local food providers and distributes the food to non-profit agencies to help feed those in need in our area.
“We started the event in an attempt to create a tradition at Palmetto Bluff,” event creator Courtney Hampson says. “The food traditions and history at Palmetto Bluff run deep, so we felt like food would be a great connector to get people to gather.”
See below for the 2018 schedule of events:
Thursday, November 15 – Culinary Salon: Bourbon & Bacon Grace Cruise
12 p.m. or 2 p.m. | Grace | $150
Nosh on Benton’s Ham with Allan Benton and other pork plates while sipping some Virgil Kaine bourbon with founder David Szlam as you sail down the May River on this scenic cruise aboard Grace, Palmetto Bluff’s antique motor yacht built in 1913.
Culinary Salon: Tasting With The Masters
1 – 3 p.m. | Somerset Chapel | $125
Uncover new depths in your everyday glass of wine with esteemed master sommeliers Craig Collins MS, Andrew McNamara MS and Emily Pickral MS as they guide you through the multi-layered landscape of wine tasting. From vine to bottle, they will lead an in-depth discussion (and tasting, of course) on the wine identification process, honing your abilities in identifying a wine based on sight, smell and taste.
Big Carol’s Big Dinner
7 – 10 p.m. | Treehouse Park | $225
When you ask who the cook was at Palmetto Bluff during the Union Camp era, the answer comes quick, “Big Carol.” So, it was only appropriate that we name our food truck in honor of this legendary lady. Tonight, she’s invited her food truck friends Kay Heritage of Big Bon Pizza and Aaron Siegel of Home Team BBQ to join her in serving their signature Southern dishes in Treehouse Park. And oh, there will be dancing.
Friday, November 16 – Culinary Salon: Out Here in the Field Lunch & Tour

We’re packing your lunch (and maybe a little punch) and sending you out in the field with Bluff Conservancy Director “Big Jay” Walea. Jay is as synonymous with Palmetto Bluff as Spanish moss and sweet tea, and you’re in for a behind-the-scenes tour like no other. Afterward, enjoy an al fresco lunch prepared by guest chef Karl Worley, a revered tradition at the Bluff.
Culinary Salon: Bubbles and Caviar
