His outdoor designs are a harmonious culmination of purpose and art, plant species chosen not just for their ornamental looks but for their growing conditions, combining perennial natives with shrubs and structural plants.
Specializing in the creation of self-sustainable gardens mixed with non-traditional plants, they strive for a very personal and hands-on approach, seeking to understand the scope of work and the client’s priorities. Myron has always cultivated a passion and joy for plants, having worked on his grandparents’ farm as a teen. This taught him to respect the growing cycle, as well as the value of growing crops for yield and food. He didn’t change his focus to ornamental plants and their use of creating space until he was in college.
Still, while he started planting at a young age, he has adapted with the change in our climate over time.
“Due to the ever-real Global Warming,” explains Greer, “I work new introductions into the Southern garden that will perform well in the Southern region, and prove to be more self-sustainable than typical southern favorites, such as the Mop Hydrangea.”
Some of Myron’s top picks for plants that can do well in the Charlotte area are Euphorbias, Cephalotaxus, and Sedges.
“I always group plants together that colonize well together,” says Greer, “this allows the plants to enjoy and perform with the neighboring plants as one, when environmentally treated the same.”
While they have incorporated multiple elements into each project depending on the client, including even chicken coops, Myron’s niche is to use non-traditional plants to create a very lush and self-sustainable colonies of planting beds.
