I expect that Not Just Coffee’s newest location—with its patio space, roll-up overhead doors, and expanded menu—will have people flocking to Dilworth Crossing in the spring and summer.
In the meantime, though, the new spot seems to have a firm grasp of cold-weather sipping. The Rye Chai, served in a predictably fashionable Nick and Nora glass, seems particularly suited to the coffee empire’s strengths, harkening back to their penchant for seasonal café specials: This time around, though, the warming spices are constituted mainly of the distinct warmth of Henry McKenna 10 Year, the gentian-y citrus of Aperol, and the concentrated bitter sweetness of Rishi Masala Chai. With just a hint of herbiness from a Green Chartreuse rinse and a touch of burnt orange, the cocktail makes an undeniably good case for this coffee shop’s transition toward more than just coffee.
