Local Charlotte artist Ruth Ava Lyons will be participating in a group artist reception at Hidell Brooks Gallery tonight, Friday, November 4th from 6-8 pm. Lyons will be showing a small preview of her new Monarch Sighting Series which is inspired by sightings of Monarchs in 50 states in 2016.
This series hopes to place a spotlight on the plight of the vanishing Monarch Butterfly’s annual migration due to deforestation and ongoing use of herbicides that kill the Milkweed crucial for their survival. Along with her Monarch Sighting Series, Lyons will also show new work from her Organism Series. Both series will be on display at Hidell Brooks through November.
Ruth Ava Lyons is also the featured artist in November’s “Collectors Choice” at GreenHill Center for North Carolina Art in Greensboro,NC.
