We love seeing the city get more and more active, and the fact that Fit Atelier is hitting Charlotte – and bringing us an exclusive class in partnership with Hilliard Studio Method – is one more sign that our city is getting closer to the health hub an urban environment should be.
The business is a boutique which will serve as a retail hub for high-end, chic indie activewear lines and the second component of Fit Atelier is the fitness programming concept where they will partner with local studios to bring in celebrity trainers from NYC and LA.
The studio will open at 310 East Blvd in Dilworth.
The first fitness partnership is with Hilliard Studio Method, where Fit Atelier will host Body By Simone‘s head trainer Alice Ramshaw for two back-to-back classes on September 9th. Body By Simone has studios in both LA and NYC and trains a host of celebrities, like Karlie Kloss, Chrissy Teigen, Reese Witherspoon, Anne Hathaway and Taylor Swift.
“We want to be a lifestyle store,” co-owner Brit Turner explains. “Our leggings, crops, sports bras, tanks and gear are meant to be easy and confidence boosting pieces to throw on for yoga, pilates, running or any workout, in addition to a quick jaunt to Whole Foods or Earl’s Grocery. Women in Charlotte are busy – whether it’s with work, family or all of the above and we want to be a quick solution to solving the age old problem of what to wear.”
Brit moved to Charlotte 10 months ago from NYC, where she spent the last 10 years working in beauty and personal care public relations and marketing. She worked at the Estée Lauder Companies on brands like Lab Series Skincare for Men and FLIRT! Cosmetics and at agencies where she worked on Oribe Hair Care, R+Co, Smith + Cult, Sonia Kashuk for Target and Topshop Beauty.
“In Charlotte, I started my own communications consultancy where I’ve been working with some really cool southern lifestyle brands on public relations, marketing and social media,” she explains. “I went to Appalachian State University where I was on the cheerleading squad for football and basketball (Go Mountaineers!) before I transferred to New York University where I graduated with a degree in Media Studies.”
Her business partner and sister Melanie Morton has been a medical social worker for the last 7 years. She graduated with a BSW in Social Work from Appalachian State. She is a wanderlust traveler who recently drove across the US on a month-long road trip and spent last summer working in Alaska.
