Enzo Custom creates some of the best men’s custom suits in Charlotte NC. Founded in 2011, the idea was that everyone with any budget should be able to afford luxury custom clothing.
Enzo Custom offers a lot of different custom options, but they are most known for outfitting grooms and groomsmen for their wedding day. We sat down with Brad Bradley, Charlotte’s showroom manager, to give us some insight on what to keep in mind when shopping for this important outfit.
You specialize in wedding attire for the groom. Why do you recommend buying a suit/tux as opposed to renting?
While renting has its place, purchasing a custom suit or tuxedo enhances the overall fit while also allowing the client to personalize aspects of the outfit both seen and unseen, like fabrics, button choices, and interior linings.
What is a common mistake someone makes when buying their attire for a wedding?
Those getting married should focus on the attire for themselves first rather than choosing outfits for their groomsmen or women. It can be more difficult to attain a client’s ideal look when trying to make it cohesive with other outfits that tend to be more standardized.
What are a few different looks you often see for grooms?
We make all types of looks but the classics tend to always prevail. The black or midnight tuxedo, white dinner jackets, and blue suit looks do well year round and can generally be reused. I’m a fan of working in velvets and corduroy in more specialized colors like dark greens and burnt oranges for fall/winter weddings. And nothing comes close to the exciting colors and textures that are common for summer and/or beach weddings. For these we often use light and bright linens or linen blends such as beige tones or pastel colors, which is why it makes sense to work with a retailer that makes some of the best men’s custom suits in Charlotte NC.
Can you accommodate any type of style? How so?
Enzo Custom offers a massive variety of both fits and design options. We can accommodate nearly any size down to the average 12 year old and up to the largest size necessary. For design, we can create one of a kind garments with various options that work for different generations and can mimic the appearance of most name brand styles if necessary.
How do you ensure a groom stands out from the crowd? Do you offer any specialty fabrics they couldn’t find elsewhere?
Standing out starts with fit. We want to make sure anyone with an Enzo garment has the best fit of those at any given event. Enzo offers some of the best fabrics in the world from mills such as Loro Piana, Zegna, and Holland and Sherry as well as house fabrics from our Enzo Sartori and Signature lines. It is rare to not be able to accommodate a specific type of fabric.
What is a typical price point/range customers can expect at Enzo?
Suits and tuxedos start at $495 for Super 140’s Signature wool and top out around $7000 for Loro Piana Super 200’s wool/silk/cashmere blends, though they can go higher for extremely rare textiles. Price point is almost entirely dependent on fabric quality and which mill produces the textile. Enzo is one of the best custom retailers in Charlotte because we can custom fit and design these fabrics at a better price point than nearly anyone in North America.
What are some current trends you are seeing with either suits or tuxes as far as fabric, style, cut, and so on?
I’ve seen a slight shift away from the skinny fit era though it will take some time before we see pleated pants or baggy fits as the standard. I hope to see a greater array of colors and design choices as we loosen the grip on old school guidelines of appropriate wear for certain types of events.
What materials do you recommend for each season based on when the wedding is?
Wool can be appropriate for most times of year depending on the weight of the fabric and tends to be the most versatile option. I lean towards wool/silk/linen blends for spring/summer to add some texture as well as a good balance between the wrinkly nature of linen and the more fine appearance of silk and wool. For winter, I love heavier textures such as velvets and corduroys as well as wool flannels.
