Taylor Richards & Conger, a luxury menswear boutique, continues to supply timeless staples to many men’s closets throughout Charlotte.
TRC was founded nearly 40 years ago by three men who wanted to elevate what they saw at local haberdasheries and transform menswear within the Queen City. Since opening, they constantly evolve their curated product lines while maintaining the high standards of quality and personalized service that people know, love, and can depend on. TRC recently introduced the brand Atelier Munro, which offers high-quality custom menswear at accessible price points.
Motivation Behind Adding Atelier Munro
Not only does TRC want to manage relationships with long-term clients, but it also wants to nurture generational relationships by offering modern fits designed innovatively.
The menswear community in Charlotte and the Carolinas know the owners of TRC to be very discerning about the lines they choose to carry. Selecting Atelier Munro as their newest line for the modern consumer was a process that included several meetings and visits to their offices to ensure that the quality of craftsmanship and consumer service lived up to the TRC standards. Once this was determined, the addition to TRC’s collection was an easy choice. Many of TRC’s long-term clients now have children entering the workforce, making many of them first-time suit shoppers. Because of Munro’s affordable pricing and ability to build garments on the computer screen in real-time, it appeals to a younger consumer. ,
New Exclusive Design Room
When TRC renovated its store in Phillips Place a couple of years ago, they dedicated an additional space to made-to-measure, which is now exclusively used for Munro. It houses the software, try-on garments, hundreds of fabric swatches, button options, and more. This dedicated space allows the TRC team to highlight the Munro line, which is known for its commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and the longevity of each garment.
Customization And The Made-To-Measure Process
With TRC’s Atelier Munro line, you can customize garments from formalwear and sportswear to casualwear and furnishings, including shoes, belts, and other accessories to complete your look.
The made-to-measure process is a personalized tailored experience. TRC goes beyond traditional tailoring, as you are in the driver’s seat of the design process.
To start, customers will try on a sample garment to find what size is best. From here, additional measurements such as shoulder slope, length of the garment, sleeve length, etc. will be recorded. This allows the team to create a FitProfile in the system that can be used on current and future orders and ensures a perfect fit.
Next comes the fun – customization! Clients will choose the fabric, linings, buttons, leather, and more based on the garment of choice. Once the basics are selected, additional details can be chosen, such as monogramming, cuff style, pockets, zippers – the list goes on.
If the idea of customization seems overwhelming, the TRC team is there to help every step of the way, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable process.
After placing the order, customers can expect to receive their custom item within 3-6 weeks, depending on the item being ordered.
For customers who require an immediate item, TRC also carries Munro ready-to-wear.
Community’s Response
TRC has received an overwhelmingly positive response from established and new customers alike. The feedback has been that the garments have the look and feel of much higher-priced pieces, making them a great value add to your wardrobe. This value, along with the interactive ordering process, has created excitement among a new generation of men looking to purchase custom clothing.
Clients are welcome to walk in any time for the Munro experience but are encouraged to make an appointment, which can be scheduled on their website.
