Richard Kessler explained, at last week’s groundbreaking ceremony, his intention to bring his characteristic artistry to the Queen City with a colorful, Argentinian-influenced design.
The highly anticipated 254-room hotel will take center stage in Uptown with 32 suites, the luxe Poseidon Spa, versatile indoor and outdoor event spaces, a Starbucks coffee shop, an open kitchen restaurant concept and a lounge/bar with a charming sidewalk and park seating, as well as a sophisticated rooftop bar on the 16th floor providing intimate spaces and unparalleled views.
The hotel will sit at the corner of Trade and Church Street, moments away from downtown’s cultural gems. With inspiration taken from one of South America’s most artistic and expressive countries, Kessler plans to infuse Argentinian culture into his hotels’ distinctive blend of architecture, art, and music to create a truly inspiring place. Not only will it add to our growing skyline and bring in new tourism, the hotel will also open up hundreds of jobs for the city.
According to Kessler, The Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte will showcase works of art by local, regional and internationally recognized artists. The hotel’s unique art collection has been curated by Richard Kessler himself, a passionate collector and supporter of the arts, and will be displayed throughout the hotel and in each guestroom.
For last week’s groundbreaking event, people from all over Charlotte – from Mayor Vi Lyles to our very own publisher, Brett Barter, descended upon Uptown to welcome this new venture.
