Hanukkah/Chanukah
Chanukah Wonderland 2021
Cost: $10 for children ages 2 and up
Location: 7804 Rea Rd
Chanukah Wonderland will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 24, Nov. 26, and Nov. 28 at the Stonecrest Shopping Center hosted by the Ballantyne Jewish Center. Reservations are required to attend the event. The event will include activities for children and teens including Chanukah crafts, virtual reality games, a laser maze, a Chanukah-themed escape room and more.
Chanukah Concert and Celebration
Cost: $18 per person and $54 per family
Location: 4400 Sharon Road
On Nov. 28 at 5 p.m., 8th Day will perform at the concert in Symphony Park which has a theme of Jewish unity and pride. The event will feature a Menorah lighting along with free donuts, latkes and water. Guests can pre-order a $15 Kosher deli dinner.
Menorah Lighting
Cost: free
Location: 7824 Rea Road
On Nov. 29 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. the entire family is welcome to come to the Menorah lighting hosted by the Ballantyne Jewish Center and StoneCrest at Piper Glen. The event will feature music, activities for children, latkes and donuts.
Christmas
WinterFest

Location: 300 Carowinds Blvd
There is no shortage of fun activities for all members of the family at Carowinds WinterFest. Take a ride on a horse-drawn carriage, relax in Jack Frost’s Igloo Village, send your list to Santa at the North Pole Post Office and skate at the Snow Flake Lake.

Merry Midtown
Cost: varies
Location: 1111 Metropolitan Ave
The Merry Midtown market, hosted by Metropolitan, will take place from Nov. 12 to Dec. 22 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Get some Christmas shopping done at any of the numerous local businesses that will be featured. Pictures with Santa will also be offered for everyone of all ages.
Christmas at the Library
Cost: free
Location: 4330 Westmont Dr
The Billy Graham Library will be hosting Christmas at the Library from Nov. 29 – Dec. 23. There is no shortage of fun activities for the whole family. Enjoy the live nativity with live animals and shepherds, ride a horse-drawn carriage around the property, savor a traditional holiday meal and more.
Kwanzaa
Kwanzaa Celebration
Cost: free
Location: 551 South Tryon St
On Dec. 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Harvey B. Grantt Center for African-American Arts+Culture will be hosting a celebration of Kwanzaa including arts and crafts, performances and informational sessions on the history and culture of the holiday. Local businesses owned by people of color will be featured in the museum store.
