Chimney Rock Labor Day Celebration
There is so much to do in the beautiful, mountainous Chimney Rock, and Labor Day is an excellent time to explore it all. The Chimney Rock State Park will be celebrating Labor Day with the best hiking and climbing experiences around! Park admission is $15 per adult and $7 per child, and it’s only about two hours west of Charlotte.

North Carolina Apple Festival in Hendersonville
If you already headed west for Chimney Rock, visit the NC Apple Festival, too. For over 70 years now, the city of Hendersonville has hosted the North Carolina Apple Festival during Labor Day weekend, dedicating four whole days to fresh apples, street fairs, food, drink, and plenty of entertainment. Hendersonville’s Historic Main Street comes alive during this festival, which is one of the most best known Street Fairs in the Carolinas.

Matthews Alive Labor Day Festival
Per tradition, the town of Matthews will also be celebrating Labor Day with a festival – including three stages of performers, more than 30 food vendors, and endless activities for everyone. From August 30-September 2, you will find Matthews’ downtown bustling with art shows, music, children’s crafts, inflatables, and beyond.

Whitewater River Jam
Saturday, August 31st kicks off festivities at the U.S. National Whitewater Center, one of the most diverse places in terms of outdoor activities. All weekend long, the USNWC will host festivities, musical performances, 5K and 15K races, competitions, yoga classes, and more. Gather around for River Jam live music in the evenings, and stay for an awesome display of fireworks on Sunday. These events are totally free and open to the public.

2019 Charlotte Labor Day Parade
On September 2nd, bring your family and friends to Charlotte’s 20th annual Labor Day Parade. The parade is free to attend and will begin around 10 am at the Hal Marshall Center in uptown, and end on College Street. Come help honor the hard working citizens of America, and their contributions to this country. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join.
South Carolina Gamecocks vs. North Carolina Tar Heels
This Labor Day, attend the Battle of the Carolinas– one of the biggest games of the year! The University of North Carolina Tarheels will take on the University of South Carolina Gamecocks on August 31 at the Bank of America Stadium. The stadium will open at 8 a.m., and kickoff is TBD.

Pets, Paints & Pints at The Hop Shop
On Monday, September 2nd at 5:45 p.m., The Hop Shop will teach you how to “paint your pet” with the help of artist Carla Garrison-Mattos. Register for the class online, then email your favorite (high quality) photo of your pet to Carla, who will then sketch the picture onto a canvas for you– ready to use. Step by step, Carla will lead you through the painting process, until you’ve completed an amazing portrait of your beloved pet. Beverages will be available for purchased, but are not included in class ticket price.

Blue Blaze Brewing Labor Day Celebration
Blue Blaze Brewing will be celebrating Labor Day for the third year in a row. Starting at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 2nd, Blue Blaze Brewing will commence live music and grilling. Pitchers of select Blue Blaze beer will be $12 all day, and hot dogs and fixins are free. Blue Blaze does not mess around with this Carolina heat. They’ll provide water balloons, squirt guns, and more to stay cool! Sparklers will be available when the sun goes down, and if it’s cool enough Blue Blaze might fire up the fire pits for an instrumental jam sesh.
