Cobble Creek Custom Homes was established in 2005 when Kim Patterson encouraged her husband, Shawn Patterson, to follow his dreams.
The knowledge passed down to Shawn from previous generations, his thirty-plus years of experience in the construction industry, and the administrative experience and support from Kim were the perfect ingredients for creating a custom-home building business that far surpassed the typical cookie-cutter drive-by builders.
Kim manages all aspects of construction administration while Shawn is onsite managing the day-to-day tasks needed to facilitate the creation and construction of their homes. You were recently nominated for multiple Best of the Lake Awards. What awards did you win?
We were extremely excited to win both custom home submissions at the Lake Norman Home Builders Association “Best of the Lake” competition. It’s a great feeling to be recognized for our work and passion. We could not be more proud, honored or grateful.
Best Waterfront Custom Home $1.5M – $1.9M Category – Winner
Constructed in a quiet cove off the main channel of Lake Norman, this waterfront high-end luxury home is a single-family, multi-faceted, modern brick farmhouse constructed to provide the client with a vacation home for their own personal enjoyment, as well as a gorgeous and relaxing vacation rental for other families to find pleasure in. This home presents families with ample space to enjoy a luxury lakeside vacation while offering two primary ensuites, three additional bedrooms, two full kitchens, a home library, and a home gym for all guests to enjoy. An infinity pool, multiple sundecks, a pier, a boat dock, an outdoor shower, and fenced dog-friendly areas were also some of the many amenities included in the scope of the project.
Best Custom Home $1.5 – $1.9M Category – Winner
Constructed on a beautiful, wooded lot to reveal a balanced flow between the indoors and out, this modern and contemporary mountain-style home was inspired by the client’s vacations to the Lake Tahoe area and frequent trips to Costa Rica. The fusion of these two styles incorporates earthy rustic tones and textures with mountain retreat nuances, like rustic elements of wood and stone that are set off by large expanses of glass and architectural angles that take advantage of the picture-perfect views of the landscape. Our focus was on sustainability and a structural concept, which encompassed an open floorplan with a connection to the outdoors, ceiling height and angle variations, thermal efficiency, Energy Star certification, and visually stunning functionality.
Do you have any big projects coming up in 2024?
Yes, we already have a busy 2024 schedule. One client we are particularly excited to work with purchased a gorgeous French-country-style estate home that we custom-built back in 2009. The new client is hiring us to build a luxurious 6300 square-foot custom garage. This project will have a second story with two primary bedrooms beside two full ensuite bathrooms with large walk-in closets. This large endeavor will also include a beautiful loft with an impressive staircase.
It will be fun and exciting to create and incorporate the design details of this existing home while also incorporating various modern touches throughout the interior. In addition, we will also be constructing a beautiful tennis court on this scenic property that will be enhanced with aesthetic features and gorgeous landscaping on this already picturesque estate.
