Construction began in 2007, led by Rick Gentry of Linville Ridge development. The foundation carves into the mountain rock making it nearly impervious to the harsh mountain wind and rain. The exterior combines new and salvaged materials to create a rustic cabin aesthetic with all of the modern 21st century amenities. Slate reclaimed from the Fox estate in Durham, and wooden beams from freshly cut south Georgian Cyprus logs are prominent on the outside. The houses outdoor fireplace comes from an old church, and the garages floor is entirely marble. Trails End stands out from the mountain countryside with a blend of old and new found only in Linville Ridge.
Entering the house, visitors will find walls built exclusively of handpicked wood that reflect the unique character of the trees used, making Trails End impossible to duplicate. Unique decor, such as a chandelier made of antlers from Elk native to Yellowstone Park and the wheels from a 300 year old Chinese war wagon, fill the house. Also just like the exterior, Trails Ends interior is assembled of reclaimed North and South Carolina materials including many Douglas Fir beams salvaged from an Asheville Steakhouse installed inside the houses great room.
Trails End is located on Branlaire Drive in the Linville Community and is a sight to behold both inside and out. A bright reflection of the Linville Ridge lifestyle, the builder spared no expense in its construction and it truly shows.
