Ockley Manor from Kingswood Homes

In 1996, husband and wife Peter and Louise Leeke founded Kingswood Custom Homes when they moved from London, England to the Queen City. With offices in Charlotte and Kiawah, Kingswood offers exceptional building services to homeowners in the Carolinas. Peter manages the homebuilding while Louise heads the interior design department.

Their combined talents produce high caliber homes and top notch results. The Kingswood team put these talents to use when creating Ockley Manor, a development composed of seven custom homes located near the Carmel Country Club. It’s a luxe retreat boasting beautiful golf courses, tennis courts, and a posh clubhouse; Ockley Manor had, from its outset, a tall order to fill.

With this project, Kingswood created lodging ideal for empty nesters who find themselves ready to resize. The exterior deploys perfectly balanced architecture, inspired by British art. The drive deposits residents and visitors straight to the front door. Set within an intriguing half-sphere frame, the door is flanked by two large pentagonal structures. Geometric shapes take precedence in the house’s outward appearance.

Spacious but Cozy
With four beds, three and a half baths, and three living areas (including a theater room, living room, and outdoor lanai), this custom home within Ockley Manor combines coziness with enough spaciousness to receive guests. Louise and her colleague Kirsten Gibson collaborated on the interior. They created a contemporary style via clean and crisp lines, a simple color palette, and a clutter-free decor concept. The inside is stylish while still managing to be warm and relaxed.

The entire home is gorgeous, but one of our favorite spaces is the outside living area. A beautiful garden nestled beneath a lanai provides an area of serenity. A tapered fireplace and outdoor grill area ensure that residents can easily host guests inside and outside. Nearby, a pool and spa beckon for recreational activity. A 60” fan and an outdoor bathroom allow every comfort and meets every need no matter whether inside or outside.

Given the quality of this Kingswood home and the high caliber team that designed and built it into existence, it’s no surprise that Project Manager Jason Hughes won Builder Superintendent of the Year for overseeing the seven Ockley Manor homes.

This home boasts both indoor and outdoor living areas, the perfect balance of coziness and spaciousness, and a stylish but timeless design. As such, it is the epitome of versatile high quality, designed with the needs of clients in mind.
